We have all had to endure a bad night because of noise: a dripping sink, a snoring spouse or partying neighbors… they all make you want to bang your head against the wall! Hush makes it possible to mask these annoying noises but still hear the sound of your alarm clock in the morning!
Having been shocked to learn that, in the United States, snoring causes one in four couples to sleep in separate rooms, three young Californian engineers have designed and developed Hush earplugs. Their understated design means they’re not much to look at, yet they combine the advantages of noise-canceling earplugs and the high-tech features of modern headphones.
Adjustable to each type of ear, they filter up to 70 dB of unwanted sounds while still letting the wearer hear important sounds. It means you will no longer be disturbed by your other half snoring, or the sound of your neighbor’s music, but you’ll still hear your child crying, your alarm clock, any notifications you want to hear or the phone call in the middle of the night from your Mexican grandmother.
Hush, for a quiet night
To manage these settings, Hush earplugs connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth to access the dedicated application. It also lets you listen to relaxing sounds to unwind and help you sleep: white noise, binaural sounds, sounds of the sea… the choice is yours. Equally practical, the application’s geotagging feature allows users to find earplugs that have been lost in the house. The supplied case enables the earplugs to be transported and recharged (three full charges without needing to be plugged in) and for comfort, a range of different tips are available. You can once again enjoy a restful night’s sleep by turning annoying noises into soothing sounds.
Having been snatched up during their Kickstarter campaign, these earplugs are now available for pre-order. The Hush application will be available free of charge for Android and iOS on the delivery date.
